The empirical results of the study show that a substantial decrease in exports to Japan and a moderate reduction in exports to the US, including a minimal decrease in import from Japan and the US, cause further trading imbalance against Korea. Korean labor disputes were found to have badly affected electronic equipment, textile fabric, iron and steel, miscellanous manufacturing and non-metallic mineral industries.Citation DetailsTitle: The effects of Korean wage hikes on Korean trade structures with the U.S. and Japan.Author: Chong Kiew LiewPublication: Southern Economic Journal (Refereed)Date: October 1, 1994Publisher: Southern Economic AssociationVolume: v61 Issue: n2 Page: p488(22)Distributed by Thomson Gale
